George S. Smith, Ph.D

George was an assistant professor at the University of Missouri for 12 years and worked at the Missouri Department of Agriculture for three years.  As a professor of agriculture, he authored/co-authored 21 refereed scientific journal publications and was author of 2 book chapters. 

George earned his law degree at the University of Missouri School of Law where he was a distinguished student.   In addition to receiving the Roscoe Anderson Award for Excellence in Advocacy and the Allen H. Parke Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy, he was the National winner in the American Bar Association Client-Counseling Competition in 2003.  He co-authored the law review manuscript:  “Smith, G. S. and Rasco, B., The Dose Makes the Poison: Are Pesticides Defective Products?”, in the Drake Ag Law Journal.   

George practices primarily civil law in the areas of civil litigation, employment law, family law, and estate planning.  Prior to becoming a lawyer, George gained considerable experience in  areas concerning agriculture and agricultural business, and can offer his client's expertise in farm and hunting leases, real estate transactions, estate planning, and farm cooperatives. 

When not in the office or in the farm fields, George can be found  hunting or playing golf, tennis or running.
